Lenox Lowell Gold Banded Ivory China Salt Shaker Overview

Originally introduced in 1917, Lowell is distinctive for its elaborate band of gold, etched in an ornate style reminiscent of services privately commissioned at the turn of the century. This service is crafted of the same ivory fine china found in the five official state services Lenox was commissioned to create for the White House.

Lenox Lowell Gold Banded Ivory China Salt Shaker Specifications

Lowell, introduced in 1917 on the cusp of World War I, is one of Lenox's most enduring and rich patterns. The Lowell trademark is a bold band of intricately detailed gold that lavishly decorates each piece and adds a pleasing texture to the fingertips. Intended for formal occasions, Lowell is crafted in the USA of ivory fine china, the same used in Lenox patterns designed specifically for the White House. This shaker, footed and tapered in a vase shape to a broad flat shoulder, measures 3-3/8 by 2 inches, features a domed top pierced with seven holes, and refills through a plastic plug in the bottom. Gold bands also trim the foot and top of the shaker, which can be used for either salt or pepper.

While Lenox gold-trimmed ivory china is not microwave-safe, it can be cleaned in a dishwasher, preferably with a mild detergent and low heat setting. The clean pieces should be allowed to cool before handling, as platinum softens with heat. Lenox backs its products with a lifetime warranty, and will replace any unsatisfactory item or provide the customer a full refund. In addition, under its lifetime breakage replacement program, Lenox will replace any broken piece that is in stock at 50 percent off the current suggested retail price. --Ann Bieri
